Sherly Ndolu is a single mother with a disability who works hard to raise her only daughter, Angel, 13 years old, in grade 6 of elementary school. The physical limitations did not reduce Sherly's enthusiasm for work.
At the moment, Sherly has a small business selling beverage with various flavours and snacks such as fried corn, chips and various fried foods such as fried bananas, tofu and sweet potatoes. Every day, Sherly earns an income of Rp. 100,000 – Rp. 150,000 per day. Angel is also keen to help Sherly producing and packages of fried corn and sells them at her school.
Sherly's consistency in running her business is an inspiration for YTLM to support her business by providing in-kind assistance in the form of 1 unit of cup sealer , 1 unit of plastic sealer, 1 banner and plastic corn packaging. Sherly starts her business at 8 am after taking care of Angel to school.
Sherly once had a stall selling various household necessities, but due to competition in her village, Sherly decided to replace it with her current business. In addition to small businesses, Sherly also has a ±50-acre garden planted with corn.
In 2024, Sherly's corn farm also got attention from YTLM, she received 5kg of corn seeds to be planted. She was assisted by relatives and her daughter in taking care her garden, she had ever managed to harvest about 1 ton of corn.
Sherly said " Eventhough I only have 1 perfect hand but that doesn't mean I can't work because God still gives me the common sense to use 1 hand to work” "When others doubt my abilities, YTLM actually give me encouragement and confidence that I can stand on my own feet.
